What is Cultured Stone?

Cultured Stone, or man-made stone, is a manufactured stone veneer product that is made from a lightweight concrete material, which makes it easier to install, and typically costs less to install than natural stone.

Kansas City Masonry contractor, Dan Brotherton, recommends that you should use nationally marketed cultured stone and not locally made. Since cultured stone is cast from thousands of molds made from natural stone to eliminate repetition, nationally marketed cultured stone has the color and texture of real stone even upon close examination. Neither do any two stones have the same exact coloring.

Because cultured stone is a lightweight concrete product, it is virtually maintenance free and can last as long as any other masonry material, including brick, concrete block, etc.

Man-made stone can be applied to surfaces that are clean and properly prepared, and over wall surfaces that are structurally sound, whether exterior or interior. This means you can bring the outdoors inside and enhance the beauty of your home inside too. You can even use cultured stone on your fireplace. Kansas City Masonry contractor, Dan Brotherton, president of Brotherton Masonry, Inc. has a cultured stone fireplace in his own home. Cultured stone products are classified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. as a non-combustible material.

Luke 6:48
"He is like a man who built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock, and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it; for it was founded upon a rock."
